Sketch #3: Registration Handbook

DUE: March 9, 2012

Your sketch might be used for the handbook:

Draw the school mascot "Spartan" doing (a) school related activities...

examples:

• wearing a backpack
• playing a sport
• painting at an easel
• 
  

Sketch #2: Logo Re-color

Find an existing logo and re-color it. Due on Block Day: Wednesday, February 22.

Directions:

1. Find a logo either in a magazine or online: You must cut/print out the original and provide it along with your sketch upon turning it in.
2. Use 3 colors that are different from the original. If the original only has one, or two, or even more than 3, alter it so that it now has 3. But an easier approach would be to find a logo that has 3 colors in its original design. Then all you would need to do is copy the design and change the color.
3. To color your sketch, you may use pencils, markers and/or crayons.

I will be evaluating you on your accuracy, coloring and overall presentation.

What is a logo?

A logo is ...
a name, symbol, or trademark designed by a graphic designer for easy and definite recognition. Short for logogram and logotype. Sometimes called a corporate identity, a logo typically appears on a company's letterhead, packages, signage, advertisements, Web pages, etc.

Below is the original colors of the logo...red and black.  The other one below the original is a re-coloring using 3 colors. If you have 3 colors and also want to include black, it will still be considered  as 3 colors.

Sketch #12

Perspective Drawing due Friday, January 20, 2012

Requirements:

• 6-letter requirement--Your Name...adapt to this even though your name may be less or more.
• Shade the sides differently.
• Erase all construction lines.
• Use One Pt. Perspective (one vanishing point).
• See steps below.

ONE

Start with rectangles--they should start in a see-through state.

TWO

 Design your letters inside the rectangles--make sure your letters maintain the original width and height of the rectangles.

THREE

Draw all your orthogonals to the vanishing point. You should draw very lightly so that you can easily erase in the end.



FINAL

Erase all your lines and shade your sides.

Sketch #11: Holiday Drawing

Draw anything that relates to the holiday season. It can be a portrait (santa?), landscape (snowy scene), or any image that reminds you of this time of year. This must be colored--pencils, markers, watercolor, pastels, or crayons or a combination.

Due: December 21st

Sketch #10: Free Choice

DUE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7TH

NO CARTOONS!!

Draw anything from observation--can't be from imagination.

So, find an object around the house, or a picture from a magazine, or from the internet, or from personal photos, maybe a landscape, a still-life, etc...or anything you want.

Evaluation is based on the following criteria:

• craftsmanship--drawing accuracy
• effort is obvious based on the above criterion...it should be obvious that you spent at least 45 minutes.
• use either graphite or color--your option.

What is a Self-Portrait...see the LINK to get ideas from other artists.

• It can be a traditional portrait. In other words, look into a mirror and draw what you see.

• or a cartoon of yourself...

• maybe a figure drawing of you performing--athletics, dance, etc...you can find a photo of you to copy.

• any medium--pencil, color, watercolor, crayons
• time and effort
